In August, we’re excited to welcome a new season of connection, leadership, and outdoor adventure. Early in the month, we’ll head to Assateague Island for our Intro to Surfing & Beach Cleanup. We’re also looking forward to our HBCU Outside event, creating space for students to explore nature, build community, and experience the outdoors. And one of our biggest moments of the year is just around the corner, Moab Adventure Week, where our leaders will travel to Utah for a transformative week of exploration, challenge, and growth. As always, we’ll continue to hold our Monthly Bouldering Night and Top Rope Climbing programs!

July was an energizing month for Soul Trak, full of movement, community, and deep connection to the outdoors. We kicked things off with an Adventure Day in Harpers Ferry, where youth from the DC Housing Authority enjoyed white water rafting and challenging ropes course. Our kayaking cohort continued to train throughout the month, building paddling skills, water confidence, and team trust during weekend sessions led in partnership with Calleva.
Back in D.C., Soul Trak Fellow Jahmal Clemons led an Outdoor Yoga session in Anacostia Park that brought community members together for gentle movement and grounding breathwork under the morning sun. This moment of pause in the middle of summer offered a chance to reconnect with self and space.
One of the most meaningful highlights of the month was our annual Teen Backpacking Trip on the Appalachian Trail. Over seven days, a small group of teens took on the challenge of hiking, cooking, and camping in the backcountry.
We also continued to host our signature climbing programs. Monthly Bouldering Night and Top Rope Climbing brought out returning faces and new participants alike, all showing up to challenge themselves, build strength, and cheer each other on.
Thank you to everyone who showed up this month—to paddle, to hike, to move, and to be in community. We’re grateful to keep growing together.
See you outside in August!
