July Program Update

This month we are excited to announce our first White Water Kayaking Club from July 8 -29, 2023, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Riley’s Lock and Angler’s Inn in Maryland and a unique Evening Kayak Cruise in Mason Neck State Park in VA on July 22, 2023 from 7-9pm. We appreciate you and can’t wait to see you in the outdoors!

We start with our monthly Bouldering Night at the Bouldering Project-DC on Eckington Pl in NE Washington today, July 5. The event takes place the first Wednesday of the month and is a community centered program offered at no cost to the first 25 Soul Trak participants, community members thereafter pay an entry fee but receive free rentals. We’re looking forward to seeing  new faces at our popular, climbing event. Volunteers are available to show first-timers how to boulder. So please reach out to them if you need some assistance!

Join us for a virtual information session on July 6 from 6-7 pm on our annual Soul Trak Leaders Service Week in the US Virgin Islands. This program is available for the Environmental Leadership Cohort, College Ambassador Cohort, Soul Trak Volunteers and Soul Trak Members.

Soul Trak is excited to be partnering with Calleva River School to present the new Whitewater Kayaking Club! The course will consist of four 4-hr rafting sessions on the Potomac River. The program is designed to introduce the club members to kayaking and the skills to maneuver on the river safely. The program will take place on Saturday afternoons from July 8 -29, 2023, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Riley’s Lock and Angler’s Inn in Maryland. The program will provide participants with a unique opportunity to learn white water kayaking on the Potomac River, which is one of the premier places to learn to paddle.

Dust off your hiking boots and hike with us on the Boulder Bridge Loop in Rock Creek Park on Saturday, July 8  from 9am -12pm.  The loop is a pleasant 3 mile loop with beautiful scenery that runs between 253-785ft of elevation. Hikers should bring water,  snacks, it is important to have enough fuel for the day. We will stop for a break midway through hike. Do also wear close toed shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.  Note that all hiking tours are weather dependent and will proceed in light rain but may need to cancel if there is heavy rain, lightning, or strong wind in the forecast. See you on the trail!

Join Soul Trak as we take an Evening Kayak Cruise in Mason Neck State Park in Fairfax County, VA on Saturday, July 22 from 7-9pm . We will float down Kane’s Creek by way of Belmont Bay, where the guides have planned stops to talk about our natural, cultural, and historic resources in the park and how they relate to the water. Choose between solo or tandem (2 person) kayaks. Be sure to wear close-toed shoes and comfortable clothing that may get wet. The registration fee of $20 covers parking, the tour, and all equipment.

You can find all our July programs on our events page. We look forward to seeing you in the outdoors!
