January – March 2026
The first quarter of 2026 set the tone for Soul Trak Outdoors, bringing people together through service, storytelling, and hands-on outdoor experiences.
MLK Day of Service
We kicked off the year by giving back. Alongside partners like FAN DC and City Kids, participants helped clean local outdoor spaces—collecting 245 pounds of trash and supporting environmental stewardship in our communities.
Black History Month Film Night
In February, we gathered at Hart Middle School to uplift Black experiences in outdoor spaces. Participants viewed Monte and Summit to Soul, followed by meaningful community dialogue.
The event brought together Soul Trak College Ambassadors, students from Howard University, PrimeAbility, and Hart Middle School—strengthening connections across our network.
Start Your Garden Workshop
In March, we hosted a hands-on gardening workshop at Lederer Garden with 42 participants and five community partners, including Redelicious, CCAN, and Friends of Lederer Garden.
Participants learned gardening basics and received supplies to begin growing their own sustainable gardens at home.
Leadership Development
We welcomed four new Soul Trak leaders in January: two Howard University students and two Environmental Fellows.
During our Fellow Retreat, they built leadership skills, connected with one another, and prepared to guide programs in their communities.
DCHA Hike
Soul Trak hosted a DCHA Hike for 17 young men, combining outdoor exploration with education and wellness.
Participants explored local parks, observed watershed data, and engaged in mindfulness activities to support both physical and mental well-being.
We’re excited to keep building community through the outdoors in 2026, creating spaces for connection, growth, and belonging.
