SoulTrak is excited to welcome our new Program Coordinator, Junko Taniguchi, who joined our team full-time in October. Junko is a recent Smith College graduate and worked at Patagonia Alexandria Staff upon graduation. Junko was introduced to Soul Trak professionally and personally through her previous position at Patagonia. She participated in Community Climb Nights, the NOLS Wilderness First Aid certification, and contributed to the Miles for the Soul fundraiser before joining SoulTrak as staff. We are extremely fortunate to have Junko here with us!
The month’s program began on November 2nd with the monthly Bouldering Night at the Bouldering Project-DC on Eckington Pl in NE Washington. The event takes place the first Wednesday of the month and is a community centered program offered at no cost to the first 25 SoulTrak participants, community members thereafter pay an entry fee but receive free rentals. It was great to see everyone enjoy themselves and add to the growing climbing community of SoulTrak boulderers last night.
As we look ahead to upcoming programs, we are excited about our hiking and Giving Tuesday programs. This month we will hike at the beautiful Brookside Gardens on Saturday, November 19 and we hill host a screening of An American Ascent at partner Arc’teryx DC on Giving Tuesday. We look forward to your generosity and your participation. We will also be continuing with our fall outdoor climbing club in Carderock and Great Falls program. Participants have the opportunity to build mastery of skill and expanded knowledge of climbing and belaying. It is awesome to see how quickly this group is acquiring skill sand how supportive they are of each other. Great job climbers!
Lastly, we want to highlight our Environmental Leadership Cohort and Virgin Islands Service Week info sessions this month. We will hold the first info sessions for both programs on November 15th and November 16th. We look forward to seeing you.
You can find all these on our events page. Thank you!
