It seems cliche to say nature balances me and creates a unique sense of wholeness… But that’s exactly what it does for me. What’s more idealistic than taking a walk and jog on a brisk fall morning- wrapped in your favorite sweatshirt or tank top and leggings with pockets anticipating when you make it back home to your favorite cup of tea?
While I stretch and prepare for my mindful walk. I like to listen to the wind push the leaves around and hear the birds sing the same song. When I get tired of their song, I use one of my many playlists to be the soundtrack to meditative time to myself.
The fresh air gives me a feeling of renewal every morning. It encourages me to reach my goals of being physically active, mentally sound, and emotionally healthy. Once I finish my time of running and walking I feel grounded and ready to start my day.
During this crazy time of having school, work, and juggling my career after college the outdoors are always there for me. I use the time outside to collect my thoughts and recenter before I go back to my daily routine. I encourage everyone to go outside and just take time to breathe and think about what you are thankful for. You don’t even have to walk or run to enjoy the outdoors. Simply sit outside and let the wind and sounds around you wash away the stress or anxiety you may be feeling. Even though the doors to your favorite spots may be closed, the outdoors are always open.
