Join us for our Wilderness First Aid/CPR Course (WFA/CPR) from August 4 – 6, 2023, at Camp Fraser in Great Falls, Virginia. Prepare for the unexpected with this fun, hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine. In this course, you’ll learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for injuries and illnesses common in the outdoors, how to manage environmental emergencies, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions. This certification is a huge asset, as many outdoor employers require a Wilderness First Aid /Wilderness First Responder certifications to lead and instruct outdoors. We have 3 spots left!
Let’s explore Rock Creek Park, DC’s very own national park! Bring your bike down to the Beach Drive Walking/Biking Path where we will meet to bike up Beach Drive and back down. This stretch of Beach Drive is closed to car traffic on weekends, so we will ride on the road and enjoy zipping through Rock Creek Park. This route is 5.4 miles long one way, and relatively flat. We will ride to Norman’s Farm Stand, where we will stop for a brief break and riders can purchase fresh fruits or snacks to fuel up. Then, we’ll ride back to the starting point. In total, this ride will be 10.8 miles round trip. Bikes and helmets will not be provided for this event. However, there is a Capital Bike share station that is about an 11-minute bike ride away from the starting point.
