In May, we’re excited to launch a new month of impactful programming and community connection! We’ll kick things off with our Spring Volunteer Orientation, where community members can learn what it takes to become a Soul Trak volunteer. For Mother’s Day, we’ll begin the morning with a mindfulness walk, followed by a Cake Decorating Workshop with CHIeats. We’ll also be hosting an orientation for our White Water Kayaking cohort, in collaboration with Calleva. This is the first step in an exciting journey into paddling, skill-building, and confidence on the water. We’ll continue to hold our signature Monthly Bouldering Night and Top Rope Climbing sessions, bringing community together through movement and challenge.
And we’re thrilled to announce that applications for Soul Trak Youth Adventure Week are now live! This summer program is an unforgettable experience for youth to dive into the outdoors and develop leadership through adventure.

April 2025
We kicked off April with our WABA Learn to Ride classes, welcoming youth and adults to Anacostia Park for a fun and empowering cycling experience. Participants built confidence and honed their skills in a supportive, community-focused environment. Our Monthly Bouldering Night continues to be one of our most popular programs! This month brought out an energetic group of climbers who challenged themselves on the wall and supported each other with every move.
In honor of Earth Day, Soul Trak led a community cleanup around the Anacostia Community Museum. With 28 volunteers, we collected 168 pounds of trash—deepening our commitment to environmental stewardship and creating a cleaner, greener neighborhood for all. Mid-month, we ventured to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, with seniors from Friendship Tech Prep High School for an unforgettable overnight camping trip. For many students, it was their first time experiencing nature in this way—completing obstacle courses, rafting, cooking over an open fire, and sleeping under the stars. It was a weekend of courage, growth, and connection to the outdoors.
Our Monthly Top Rope Climbing program is growing fast! In April, participants joined us at Movement to refine their climbing skills and build confidence on the wall. We also teamed up with the DC Housing Authority to host 22 families for an afternoon of climbing—introducing youth and parents alike to a new adventure. Watching families climb side-by-side, support one another, and celebrate each other’s accomplishments was a true highlight of the month.
In total, 57 youth from across Washington, D.C., participated in our April events. Of those, 36.7% were from Ward 8 and 32% were from Ward 6, reflecting our ongoing commitment to engaging communities that are often underrepresented in outdoor recreation.
Thank you to all the volunteers, families, and community members who made this month so meaningful. Soul Trak continues to move because of your energy and dedication to equity in the outdoors.
See you outside in May!
