This month we are excited to host our annual Service Week this week November 5-12 2023 in the US Virgin Islands and a festive Giving Tuesday Happy Hour at Arrc’teryx DC. We are partnering with Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park at our Service Week and Arc’teryx at our Giving Tuesday. We appreciate you and can’t wait to see you in the outdoors!
We start with our monthly Bouldering Night at the Bouldering Project-DC on Eckington Pl in NE Washington on, November 4 from 7-pm. The event takes place the first Wednesday of the month and is a community centered program offered at no cost to the first 25 Soul Trak participants, community members thereafter pay an entry fee but receive free rentals. We’re looking forward to seeing new faces at our popular, climbing event. Volunteers are available to show first-timers how to boulder.
So please reach out to them if you need some assistance!
Join us this Saturday, November 4th, 2023 from 3-6p at Rock Creek Park Picnic area 7 for a guided hike followed by hot cocoa and games in the park! Two college ambassadors will meet at Howard to guide the group to Rock Creek. Our primary goal for this initiative is to acquaint Howard students and others with the possibilities of local outdoor sanctuaries through Rock Creek Park. We aim to bring together the BIPOC community for a day of empowerment, connection, and a sense of relaxation before the final stretch of demanding coursework. We hope to provide activities, resources related to outdoor engagement, wellness, and community support. Furthermore, highlighting the range of outdoor activities be it cycling, hiking, or simply relishing the outdoors while lounging on a picnic blanket.
We still host our annual service week to the US Virgin Island Service Trip this coming week. Soul Trak will be partnering with the Friends of Virgin Islands National Park in the US Virgin Islands of St. John. The week will consist of exciting activities and workshops led by both Soul Trak staff and program partners. This is a great opportunity to deepen our bonding experience as a network of outdoor leaders, further our learning around leadership and diversity, and continue to engage in outdoor recreational activities that promote teamwork, skill building, and expand our tolerance for adversity. This program will be made available for the Environmental Leadership Cohort, College Ambassador Cohort, Soul Trak Volunteers and Soul Trak Members.
Join us for a festive evening of celebration and gratitude as we mark Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving, at our Giving Tuesday Happy Hour.
